Wedding day essentials bag

A guide of what to pack for your dog on your wedding day

Including your furry friend in your wedding is a beautiful and heartwarming decision — but just like the bridal party, your dog needs a few essentials to keep them happy, healthy and stress-free throughout the big day.

That’s where a wedding day essentials bag for your dog comes in!

Whether your dog is walking down the aisle, posing for photos or simply mingling with guests, having a well-packed bag ensures everything they need is right at hand.

What to pack for your dog on your wedding day

When your dog is part of your wedding day, a little preparation goes a long way in keeping your dog calm, comfortable and happy. Just like you’ll have a bridal bag or emergency kit, your pup will need their own essentials to get through the big day stress-free.

From food and water to comfort items and grooming supplies, packing the right things ensures your furry guest of honour is ready to celebrate by your side. Here's our guide of what to include for your dog:-

Leash & harness or collar

Even if your dog is off-leash at certain moments (like photos), having a leash and secure harness or collar is essential for safe transitions between venues or activities. Choose one that matches your wedding theme or colours for an added touch!

Tip: Bring a backup leash, just in case.

Water & travel bowl

Weddings can be long days and your pup will need to stay hydrated — especially during outdoor ceremonies or summer celebrations.

Collapsible bowls are lightweight and perfect for quick sips on the go.

Food & treats

Bring a portion of your dog’s regular food if they’ll be with you for a while, and plenty of treats for rewards and photo bribery!

Avoid giving them anything new on the day to prevent an upset tummy.

Plan your wedding day, your way

Every couple is different, and so is every dog. Take a look around, explore our guides, and discover the best ways to celebrate your love – together with your furry family.

Poo bags & clean-up supplies

This one’s not glamorous, but it’s essential. Accidents happen, and it’s best to be prepared with waste bags, pet wipes and even a small towel.

You can even include a stain remover spray if your dog is likely to get muddy paws on your outfit.

Grooming essentials

A small brush, a lint roller (for fur on dresses and suits) and pet-safe wipes will help keep your dog looking fresh and photo-ready throughout the day.

Add a spritz of pet-safe deodorising spray if they tend to get a bit whiffy!

Comfort items

If your dog has a favourite toy, blanket or bed, bring it along. These familiar items help calm nerves in unfamiliar settings.

Having a dedicated spot they can retreat to (like their crate or a soft mat) is a great way to manage overstimulation.

Outfit or accessories

If your dog is wearing a tux, dress, flower collar or bow tie, pack it carefully so it doesn’t get wrinkled or damaged. Bring extras or backups in case of any mishaps.

Make sure any clothing or accessories are comfortable, breathable and don’t restrict movement.

Medications & first aid

If your dog takes any medications, be sure to pack them along with a small pet first aid kit. Include essentials like bandages, tweezers (for ticks or splinters) and antihistamines if approved by your vet.

Check with your vet beforehand if you’re unsure what’s safe.

Schedule & contact info

If you’ve hired a wedding pet sitter or have a designated dog handler for the day, include a copy of your dog’s schedule, feeding times, vet contact info and emergency instructions.

Print out a checklist to hand over for peace of mind.

Optional extras
  • Cooling vest or fan (for hot weather weddings)
  • Doggy sunscreen (especially for light-nosed breeds)
  • Bowls for treats or flower petals if your dog is the ring bearer or flower pup
  • Dog-safe bubbles or confetti for a fun send-off

Your dog is part of your family, and with the right preparation, they can enjoy your wedding day just as much as you do. A thoughtfully packed essentials bag means fewer surprises and more tail wags on your special day.

Don’t forget to delegate! Assign someone you trust (or hire a professional) to be responsible for your dog’s needs so you can focus on your "I do's" with full peace of mind.
